Guiders

A generic tool in our model for behavioral change (Tools Page).

Guiders are a theoretical concept in this model, that serve as goals that our subconscious actions are trying to achieve in a certain situation. Such Guiders could be “impress”, “understand”, “be precise”, “excite”, “experience fully”, “appreciate”, and so on.

This method is based on the idea that when our consciousness utilizes our unconscious processes, we waste resources: because our unconsciousness could do so better (see Centipede Effect), with faster processing, less energy, more access to our memory, more control over our body, and so on.
In addition, in our natural state we waste resources because our subconscious is busy with many Guiders that our consciousness doesn’t care about, such as “watching out for danger” when we’re at home, “caring what overs think about me” when we walk the street, or “looking for excitements” when we’re trying to focus at work.

In order to fully harness the power of our unconscious, and solve these problems of misalignment between our conscious goals and our unconsciousness Guiders, our method consists of indicating* Guiders for our subconsciousness, and then letting** our subconscious intuition lead our behaviour.
We do so until we encounter moments that require out conscious interference - mostly those that involve one of the seven signals of truth.

*Because we have dozens of Guiders in every given situation, we can’t just give our subconscious the one or two Guiders that we want to lead us. Instead, we try to imagine a personal vision of us in this very situation, and then try to sync with the Guiders that lead our personal vision in this situation.

**Letting our intuition lead is a tricky thing to explain how to do. In other words, it means to not think about what you’re doing.

We all had done this as children, but eventually understood that doing whatever comes to our minds can lead us to do things that annoy others or are painful or even dangerous to us. Yet, as adults, most of these social codes and dangers are already intuitive to us.

Without utilizing Guiders, letting our intuition lead can lead to embarrassing situations, because our thoughts are not always aligned with proper behavior. But with Guiders, we can trust our intuition, and whether we won’t to avoid a behavior that we’re about to do - we should make change in:

  1. Our Guiders, not behavior. This is important for the immediate short-term change.
  2. Our perceptions, using the perception changing tools. This is important for the long-term, more natural change of behavior.
